Monday Inspirations

I'm back!!
China was great - had a few bumps along the way, like a food poisoned husband and some sneaky taxi drivers, but the country sure is beautiful!
I've had a lot of catching up to do and it was really enjoyable sifting through what everyone in blog world has been up to while I was away.

Here are some links to inspire you on this lovely Monday!

Cloud brooch

Here is a quick tutorial for you ^.^

Step 1: you will need batting (stuffing), felt (two thin layers), a brooch pin, a felting needle and glue (preferably a glue gun)
Step 2: Place a ball of batting on your white felt and start poking it with your felting needle - seriously that is all. (I used a 36 gauge triangle needle (I think its the most common one). If you want more detailed info on needle felting here is a link :)
I placed it on a yellow sponge so that I didn't poke a hole in anything (in other words - me)
Step 3: keep attaching batting and poking it until you have the cloud shape that you want.
Step 4: Glue the brooch pin onto the back of your second piece of felt cloud.
Step 5: Glue the white cloud and the blue brooch pin cloud together
Step 6: TA DA!!

Let me know if you have any questions and HAVE FUN!!

Revamping accessories

Here in Korea I often find cute accessories, but put together in such a way that I would never wear them. A few days ago I found a cute wooden bunny thingy attached to a hairband - I wouldn't wear it like that, but I loved the bunny. I thought it cost 1000won (close to 1 dollar/7rand) when I went to pay the shop assistant irritatedly sent me back to the shelf - saying it was 1000won for 2. YAY ME!! so I bought two wooden thingies attached to hairbands.
Anyway - to make a long story short, I changed them into brooches, it took me about 5 minutes. ^.^
Step 1: get a brooch pin
Step 2: detach elastic band (it was stuck on surprisingly well)
Step 3: Glue the brooch pin to the back (I used a glue gun - I LOVE glue guns)
Step 4: TA DA!!

I hope you find some great CHEAP stuff to revamp.

Monday Inspirations

Today my Monday Inspiration is purely selfish - I'm so sorry. But I'm excited and I need to tell you about it!! In one week from now I will be here:

And here is some art by Dadushin, just because I can (and I love it).

Then we are off to Beijing

We have quite a busy sightseeing schedule but I will get a day to do some craft/fabric shopping done. If you know of any MUST SEE's with regards to fabric (in Beijing), please let me know!

I hope this leaves you inspired - I know I am bursting with excitement.
Happy Monday!

Monday Inspirations

Today's inspiration is all about getting organised. The school vacation has just started over here (although that doesn't allow me to stay at home) so I feel like I need to gear up and sort out the mess I've made over the last semester. And the mess usually consists out of tons of small things that pile up.

Here are some links that I found to inspire you:)
1. Mason jar storage rack from weeping cherries.
2. A sewing kit in a jar (tutorial) from funkytime.
3. Super organised chore charts (this one is for those of you with kids) from the Clay family
There is also a super cute meal planning board if you want to check it out.
4. How to store yarn by travel food art & design.
5. How to make a thread rack from Festotu.
6. Laundry room sign (tutorial) ,I personally LOVE this one, from love stitched.

Sadly I won't be posting about any sweet treats today. I am currently doing a 7 day raw food detox to give my liver a few days off - Not for a diet (I seriously detest diets). For the past few months I have been super tired and just feeling a bit bleh. (Yes, I have been exercising) So I got tired of feeling tired and decided to do something about it.
if you want to know more about it here is the link :)

Happy AWAKE Monday!
